Admissions and Transitions

"We are delighted that you are considering a place for your child/children at Lyneham Primary School. We can't wait to meet you!"

ALL applications for a school place (whether starting school for the first time or moving to us from another school) must be made via Wiltshire Council. Information on how to apply can be found below. Alternatively, you can go directly to Wiltshire Council's Admissions website where there is lots more information on their admissions process, including how to apply for a previously 'looked after child' - go straight to the Admission website by clicking here.

Is your child joining us from another primary school? You will need to complete an In-Year Transfer application.

If you are ready to apply for an In-Year Transfer place then click here.

Need more information before you apply?

You may be applying for a school place outside of the usual time of entry. This might be because you have moved house, are being posted with the armed forces, or because your child is unhappy at their current school. Whatever the reason, these are known as transfers or in-year applications. You should not remove your child from their current school before you have made a transfer application and secured a place at another school.

You can apply for an in-year transfer, and track its progress, by registering on the Wiltshire Council website (link above). Alternatively, a copy of the in-year transfer application form can be obtained by calling Wiltshire council Customer Services on 01225 713 010. All paper application forms must be posted back to the address on the application form.  Email copies will not be accepted.

Please note: Applications can only be submitted a term in advance on the required admission date.

If you wish to apply for an in year transfer to a school outside of Wiltshire, please contact the Local Authority for which the school is situated in for details of how to apply.

Once we have received confirmation from Wiltshire Council Admissions that they have your completed application form, we will then email you with joining information to help plan for your child/children's first day. In the meantime, if you would like to speak to the School Office team to discuss a prospective place for your child/children or if you have any questions, then please do not hesitate to call us on 01249 890 413 - we are always happy to hear from to you.

At Lyneham Primary School we have children who arrive and leave throughout the school year and others who stay with us right from Foundation Stage to Year 6. We know that transitioning schools can be an unsettling time for both children and parents, therefore whenever a child joins us we have an induction programme to help them and their families settle in as quickly and happily as possible. You will be contacted by our school Transition Co-ordinator once your child/children have started, but if you have any specific questions about the school prior to starting then please feel free to email the school office on admin@lynehamprimary.wilts.sch.uk who will put you in touch with our Transition Co-ordinator.

Is your child leaving LPS?

Download the Notification of Child Leaving form by clicking here.

Once you know that your child/children will be leaving Lyneham Primary, perhaps due to a house move or a posting, you will need to complete our Notification of Child Leaving form. Don't worry if you you have not got all of the details of your move just yet. It is always better to fill out what you can and then update us by email/phone once you know more.  Please email completed forms back to admin@lynehamprimary.wilts.sch.uk or handed in to the school office as soon as possible. This form is not necessary for Year 6 leavers who are going to secondary school from LPS.

You will need to contact your new school directly to find out their admissions procedure and apply accordingly.
